Setting Sessions

Samantha Sixta

Four-year letter winner at SEP

and helped lead the Rams to a

record of 112-41, two Iowa Class

5A region finals and an East Central

Iowa Metropolitan League (CIML)

title…three-times she was named

all-division and twice all-conference

…as a senior she was also named 5A all-district and honorable mention all-state…at the conclusion of her career she held career school records for assists (3526), ace serves (318), and single season records for assists (1068), and hitting percentage (.512), and second in career digs.

Started this year as a setter for Luther College and led the team in aces and had 960 assists for the season. She also wants to mention that she has increased her vertical by 5 inches by being dedicated in the weight room!!!!

Being able to set is not a skill just reserved for setters. It's equally important for Defensive Specialists (DS) and Liberos.
Proper footwork and technique is important when bump setting and/or hand setting and getting additional reps is extremely beneficial.

We are fortunate to have Sam Sixta back for the summer to lead our setting training. If your son or daughter is going into Junior High or High School this fall, AND plans on being a DS, Libero or Setter, we would like to invite them to improve their setting skills (hand and forearm) every MWF from 7:00 am to 8:00 am at the High School.
Training will be led by Sam with other coaches participating as time permits. Throughout the summer, hitters will also be invited to add complexity to the drills.

Sessions will start promptly at 7:00 am, and participants should arrive with a great attitude, desire to learn and work hard, and to expect a lot of repetitions.

Cost:   $0 (but we may take up a free-will collection)
